Do you provide Windows-based hosting or support ASP?

We do not currently offer Windows-based hosting and do not support ASP or .NET framework. If this is a feature you would like to see added to the GeekStorage service offering, please e-mail headgeeks@geekstorage.com with your suggestion!

Does GeekStorage require service contracts?

For the most part, no. Only one service plan (Starter, shared plan) requires at least a 12 month billing period. All other plans have a monthly billing option and do not require any contract whatsoever. We do offer considersable savings for prepayment and we do encourage you to test drive our service under our 60 Day Money Back Guarantee. If you decide you love our service, you may decide that grabbing a prepayment discount is a great idea.

Does GeekStorage offer free trials?

Instead of a free trial we offer a 60-day Money Back Guarantee. If you decide our service isn't for you during the first 60 days, contact us and let us know. We'll refund fees, no questions asked.

How long does it take to set up a new account?

All of our Virtual Private Servers are provisioned within the first 24 hours after you sign up. The only delay would be if you choose the PayPal payment option and then don't complete payment right away. Your account's setup would be delayed until you have completed payment.

Does GeekStorage charge any setup fees?

We do not charge setup fees for any of our service plans. Some account upgrade options do have setup fees.

Can I buy domains names from GeekStorage?

Yes, domain names start at $8/per year and can be purchased on our Order page.

Do you do regular backups of my account?

Yes, we perform nightly backups of all accounts on our service. This, however, is not a substitute for making your own backups! You are responsible for maintaining your own backups and it is encouraged you do so.

I have my own SSL certificate, can GeekStorage install it for me?

Yes, we can install your own SSL certificate for a $10 installation fee. SSL certificates require a dedicated IP address, so you would also need to order one if your current plan does not provide one to you.

Alternatively, if your control panel allows it (such as cPanel), you can install your own SSL certificate absolutely free of charge.

What type of issues can Geek Support help me with?

Anything relating to your server's operating system or control panel is covered under the general technical support we offer.

Any third party script installations, configuration or general trouble shooting of those third party scripts is not supported under our free managed service and will be billed accordingly, if requested.

What type of hardware do your VPS nodes operate on?

All of our VPS nodes are dual processor, quad core machines with at least 32 GB RAM and a high-redundancy RAID 10 storage array. In addition to the RAID 10 array, we also utilize R1Soft CDP on our NAS storage servers for backups.

Where are your VPS nodes located?

We are currently provisioning all new VPS geeks on nodes located in Chicago, IL. You can request your VPS to be provisioned on our nodes located in Los Angeles, LA by selecting "Los Angeles, LA IDC" as your preferred datacenter during signup.

How does the 30 free website migrations work? What if I need more?

After signing up for a new GeekStorage account, you can submit a request to Geek Support to initiate website transfers from your old provider to your new account. We will perform up to 30 website transfers absolutely free of charge.

Please be sure to include with your request your old server's IP address, the domain names needing to be transferred and their respective usernames and passwords.

Additional website transfers, beyond the initial 30, can be ordered for $10/each.

If your previous host is running cPanel we will be able to transfer all files, databases and email accounts. If your previous host uses a different control panel, we will only be able to transfer files for you.
